*Seniors*

CLG BnaG 2-7 Glenswilly 1-7

Our Seniors got a big two points after a hard fought win over Glenswilly on Sunday. The first half was a fairly tight affair with scores for both teams hard to come by but intense and physical play from both sides throughout. Glenswilly got a fairly fortunate goal midway through the half but Na Galloglaigh responded well to get one of their own with 5 minutes of the half left. Darragh Black found Joey Cullen in space who rounded the Glenswilly keeper to finish, this goal left the visitors just a point ahead at the break, 1-3 to 1-4, however the loss of Neil Gallagher to injury after 20 minutes was a big loss for Glenswilly. The second half was a complete battle with Na Galloglaigh working their socks off throughout, and ten minutes into the half got a great boost when Tony Mcnamee found space to hit the back of the net for a second goal. Despite a late late goal scare Na Galloglaigh defended well and picked off some vital scores to get a hard earned and well deserved win over the county champions. The Club would like to thank our sponsor for Sundays game for their support, Nigel Black Roofing & Construction. There will be no game this weekend as Donegal play Antrim and all at the Club wish the Seniors and SPs Minors the best of luck. Team: Caolan Mc Gettigan, Kieran Sheridan, Barry McNulty, Tj Evesson, David Curley, Gary Merritt, Tony McNamee (1-0), Joey Cullen (1-0), Luke Barrett (0-1), Cathal Mc Gettigan (0-5), Pauric Curley, Christopher Barrett (0-1), Darragh Black, Kyle Black, Paddy Peoples. Subs: James Doyle for D. Black (54m), Martin Doyle for K. Black (57m), K. Black for Cathal McGettigan (60m), Cormac Friel, Enda McHugh, Sean Black, Gavin Grier. *Reserves*

CLG BnaG 1-8 Glenswilly 1-10

The Reserves were left to rue defeat in a game they felt they should’ve won against Glenswilly. The opening quarter was a cagey affair as both sides took time to settle into the game. The visitors had the advantage of a slight breeze and the opened the scoring with a point after 10 minutes. Na Galloglaigh got back on level terms through an Enda McHugh free and were soon leading when Sean Black cut in along the endline and drilled a low shot into the Glenswilly net. But the lead was short lived as Glenswilly replied with a point and then when a high ball into the square wasn’t dealt with it resulted in a goal. Na Galloglaigh started to find it more difficult to create many scoring opportunities and were guilty of regularly getting turned over by a more physical Glenswilly team. However both sides added another 2 points each to leave Glen men leading by 1 at half time, 1-3 to 1-4. Na Galloglaigh upped their performance in the 2nd half and were able to create a few more gaps in the Glenswilly defence. 2 points from Cormac Friel and another from Ryan Ferry moved the home side into the lead as Na Galloglaigh took control of the game. Glenswilly responded with another 2 points before a brace from substitute Dylan Hegarty including a 45’ restored a 2 point lead with less than 10 minutes remaining in the game. But when Na Galloglaigh lost Gavin Grier to a black card and with their full quota of substitutions already used it left them with 14 players for the remainder of the game. Glenswilly began to fight back and made their numerical advantage count. They scored 4 points in a row including 2 great long range efforts from their centre forward, to take the lead again. Similarly to the Aodh Ruadh game last weekend, Na Galloglaigh won a 13m with only 30 seconds left on the clock. Whereas they scored an equalizing goal in that game, unfortunately they couldn’t repeat the same this time. Dylan Hegarty’s effort at goal was blocked and although the rebound dropped into the hands of Tony McGettigan the ref somehow deemed that the ball was picked off the ground a gave a free out signaling the end of the game.

Team: Gavin McFadden, Tony McGettigan, Paul Grier, Brandon Toye, Gavin Grier, Sean Black (1-0), Cormac Friel (0-2), Enda McHugh (0-1), Caolan Bolton (0-1), Patrick Ferry, James Doyle, Dean Burgess, Martin Doyle, Andreas Afxentiou, Anthony Fisher. Subs: Matthew Stewart for McHugh (15m BC), Emmet Conaghan & Ryan Ferry (0-1) for M.Doyle & Black (h/t), Dylan Hegarty (0-2) & Paddy Mc Carron for P.Ferry & Burgess (47m), Ryan Spike Flood for P.Grier (50m)
