Milford AC had three athletes take part in last Sunday’s Donegal Grand Prix 5k Road Championship held in Buncrana.
Gerard Marley has improved exponentially over the past year, the Gortmacall man started tentatively running just over 21mins for 5km, but on Sunday he broke the 19 minute barrier for the 2nd time with a great pb of 18:49.
Daniel Hewitt ran his 2nd fastest 5km, as he recorded 19:08, with Gillian Marley taking in the race as she settles back into 3rd level education, - running 21:21.
A record number of club athletes are in steady training for the upcoming Dublin Marathon. 35 marathon hopefuls ran between 15 to 19 miles last weekend with a similar run scheduled for this weekend as most will run 15 to 20 miles. Note: the Sunday run starts at 9am.
The club extend best wishes to club member Gareth Kerrigan and his fiancée, Amanda Hunter who will get married this Saturday.
Mulroy College 10km
On Saturday morning the Mulroy College 10km will take place, starting at the Mulroy College at 11am.
The cross country season is now about to commence with the first local race being the Area Primary Schools Cross Country due to take place in Milford on Tuesday 27th September.
The Donegal Clubs Cross Country, juvenile and masters will take place in Castlefin on Sunday 2nd October. The Donegal clubs uneven age groups and men’s and ladies novice will take place in Milford on Sunday 9th October.
The club extend sympathy to former couch to 5k participant Paul McCleary and family on the recent death of his father Tony. May he rest in peace.
